I just installed Office 2013 and started to use this book I got a year ago.

Lesson 1-12, #5.  The My data header as header box is protected.  How do I uncheck this item?

#7.  The Sort left to right item in the Sort Options box is protected.  How do I uncheck this box?

Why is this protected and it's purpose?   How is it turned on/off?

Is Office 2013 the problem?

Hi Charles,

I suspect that you may have missed step 2, where you convert the Table into a Range. If the data remains in a Table, you will not be able to check "My data has headers" or sort left to right.

Note that you can view a video version of this lesson: Expert Skills Lesson 1-12 Sort a range by columns.

Viewing the video version of a lesson can often help if you are having trouble with a lesson in the book.

I hope this helps, but please feel free to reply if you need any further assistance.
